STEMPOINT – HELPING SCHOOLS TO ENGAGE PUPILS IN SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY, ENGINEERING & MATHS (STEM)

The Oxford Trust holds the STEMPOINT contract for Milton Keynes, Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire, providing brokerage services for STEM Enhancement and Enrichment (E&E). Through this we have a responsibility to provide all schools and colleges with impartial advice and guidance on a wide range of STEM E&E activities, helping them to identify which opportunities can best inspire their young people in STEM. This includes advice on activities listed in the STEM Directories as well as other regional and local provision. The STEMPOINT contract is awarded by STEMNET. WHAT SERVICE CAN WE PROVIDE TO SCHOOLS?

• If you would like to get an event or project going in your school, or would like to know what’s out there to engage and inspire particular groups of pupils with STEM (and whether there are any funds you can apply for) then please get in touch with your query and we will carry out research on your behalf.
• We are also happy to come out and visit schools/colleges to find out what you are already doing (a STEM Audit!), what your future needs might be and how you can work to integrate STEM enhancement and enrichment activity into your school/college life.
• Regular newsletters for schools in Milton Keynes, Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire that share best practice and keep schools up to date with key events and initiatives.
• This webpage will also continue to develop as a source of signposting information and links for schools. A key new information source for schools are the STEM Directories which you can access, here.

SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING AMBASSADORS

The Oxford Trust also holds the Science and Engineering Ambassadors contract for Milton Keynes, Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire, ensuring that all schools and colleges have access to a range of exciting and dynamic role models in STEM. For more information visit our SEAs webpage.

OUTREACH SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY WORKSHOPS FOR PRIMARY SCHOOLS

For 2008-09 The Oxford Trust is able to offer all primary schools in Milton Keynes, Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire subsidised science and technology outreach workshops, thanks to support from the Lloyds Educational Trust.
