Can You Solve The Rope Puzzle?
The puzzle
You have two non-identical pieces of rope. You know that each one takes exactly one hour to burn through but that they each burn completely unevenly (ie you can not assume that it takes 15 minutes to burn through 1/4 of the rope). You also have a method of setting the ends alight (lighter, matches etc).
How can you use the two ropes to time exactly 45 minutes?
