Full Profile:
Oxford Entrepreneurs is the student led society for entrepreneurs at the University of Oxford. They help each other to start companies while studying through our Start-A-Company scheme (which spins out 6 companies a year); provide inspiration by hosting the renowned entrepreneurs; education by organising workshops; and offer networking opportunities. They have over 3000 members, a mixture of undergraduates, graduates, and MBA students, spanning every academic subject.

While the society has only existed since 2002, tens of exciting and successful companies have risen from their ranks. Some recent examples include Groupspaces, Blueventures, YouNoodle, and Accademia.edu - all of which have received significant investment and are growing fast. Auctomatic, another OE company recently successfully exited for $5m! http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/7048556.stm.

Each term OE bring leading entrepreneurs and innovators to speak to their members. They have been fortunate to have been able to attract a diverse range of established entrepreneurs to share their experiences with them. In the past 12 months they've hosted Richard Reed (Innocent Smoothies), Sir Tom Hunter (Billionaire Philanthropist), Charles Dunstone (Carphone Warehouse) and John Bird (Big Issue), with James Dyson, the late Dame Anita Roddick, Alan Sugar, Stelios Haji-Ioannou (Easy Group), and Karan Bilimoria (CEO Cobra Beer) in previous years.

They were highlighted by the Department for Trade and Industry as 'one of the top three organisations in the UK for supporting innovation and enterprise', and have rolled out their operations' model to the London School of Economics [[WHERE ELSE?]]. They're also big on the idea of creative dissent. In fact, in starting such a society for the first time in Oxford's history, they've done a bit of it themselves! They're driving a change in the understanding of entrepreneurship. One aspect is its accessibility - they want everyone at Oxford to have asked, 'Could I be an entrepreneur?' Another is that they make social enterprise a prominent part of the definition. Half of their top entrepreneurs have started social enterprises, including coral reef preservation, culturally sensitive Zambian homesteads, and the building of Rwanda's first public library. Oxford Entrepreneurs is at the cutting edge of promoting and supporting student entrepreneurship - can you afford to not get involved?

'They are an inspirational crowd - young and full of ideas and energy. If they and their like can sustain a decent level of enthusiasm, then we will still have a worthwhile enterprise economy in a few decades' time.' - Luke Johnson, Chairman, Channel 4, Sunday Telegraph, 6th March 2005
