BMW Group Plant Oxford has been manufacturing MINI since the car's launch in April 2001. The plant employs around 4,500 making it the largest private sector employer in Oxford.

The largest of the BMW Group's facilities in the UK, Plant Oxford is the only place in the world where MINI is manufactured. Since its market launch in April 2001, production figures for the MINI, originally planned at around 100,000 vehicles per year, reached a record level of 189,492 in 2004. The total number of employees has risen to 4,500 to date and the company exports MINI to over 70 countries worldwide. An estimated 14,000 vistors visit the plant each year.
