'Colliding Particles' videos launched - bring the Large Hadron collider into the classroom

Colliding Particles is designed to support the 'How Science Works' element of key stage 4 of the national curriculum. The films have been made to illustrate aspects of the way in which science develops. They show scientists discussing their work, how they collaborate and compete, and the relationship between experiment and theory in science.

The Large Hadron Collider at CERN will look deeper into the nature of the universe than anything that has gone before, and its' vast experiments are certain to change our understanding of the world around us. 'Colliding Particles' is a series of films following the work of one team of physicists involved in the experiments at the LHC. Over the course of the project the films will document their work at the frontiers of particle physics. We will follow their progress in their hunt for the Higgs, and explore the workings of the scientific process itself.
