Energy Extravaganza at Project Timescape!
Project Timescape launches a week of energy busting activities
Keen green children in Oxfordshire can enjoy a week long 'Energy Busting' exhibition and series of workshops at Project Timescape between 5th and 8th August.
Children are invited to find out where energy comes from and feel empowered to make a difference. Activities on offer
include solar car racing, scientific experiments, building pin-wheels, solar power demonstrations and opportunities to learn about the causes of Climate Change.
Janet Payne, the Trust's Schools Energy Project Officer says: 'We use it every day and often take it for granted. Now's your chance to find out a bit more about our energy. Come and see the displays and take part in our energising activities'
Also on display will be 'Earth Rover 1', a redundant electric powered milk float with a new role in life!
'Earth Rover 1, the brainchild of Oxford resident, Stephen Harrell-Bond, is packed with examples of the latest renewable power technology including a fully functioning FuturEnergy wind turbine, and both solar thermal and photovoltaic panels.
Free workshop activities will be available on Tuesday 5th and Friday 8th August between 10am and 5pm. An Energy Busting exhibition will remain on display at Hill Farm throughout the week commencing 5th August.
Visitors can learn more about the effects of Climate Change on the local landscape at Project Timescape, the Northmoor Trust's interactive visitor centre, open Tuesday - Fridays plus Sundays throughout the summer holidays. There is an admission charge for Project Timescape.
The Energy Busters group, a partnership between Oxfordshire County Council and the Northmoor Trust who work with schools to reduce their carbon footprint.
