Summerscreen 2008
1000 young people across Oxfordshire are about to get their first real taste of filmmaking thanks to Summerscreen 2008 - the 9 day festival of film, fun and fantasy which boasts its 4th and best year yet.Between Saturday 26 July and Sunday 3 August 2008, over 30 fantastic film activities will be held across the county, with around 2000 festival participants involved in all. It's hoped that the young people who take part will go on to take steps into a glittering award-winning career.
Aardman trained animators, BBC broadcasters and professional filmmakers, will exclusively pass on their skills to the next generation of young, budding Oxfordshire talent.
Festival Highlights include (in detail on website www.ofvm.org/summerscreen):
o Harry Potter and Golden Compass film location trails and family quizzes
o Cartoon courses in the style of Monty Python, Disney, computer games and clay modelled characters
o BBC mini-movies made for the BBC website and a big screen cinema world premiere finale
o The making of an Urban dance film, with a hip hop musical score and exciting breakdance and acrobatics moves and grooves, led by top, totally talented Oxford crews Messy Jam and Flaw R*tists.
o Behind the scenes in a TV newsroom. Meet the presenters and even have a go at reading the news!

Now in it's 4th successful year, Summerscreen 2008 is bigger than ever with a whopping 9 day festival line up to choose from. There's a lot of free events and something for everyone, up to the age of 19 years old. Some events are especially for the whole family, like Film under the Stars open air cinema screenings held in local parks in the evenings.
Over 25 organisations and community groups will host workshops, tours and screenings in Abingdon, Banbury, Bicester, Henley, Oxford, Sutton Courtenay, Wantage and Witney.
