The Oxford Trust Wins STEMPOINT Contracts
Following an open tendering process, The Oxford Trust has successfully retained its contracts to be the STEMPOINT for all schools in Milton Keynes, Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire (MKOB) and to manage the Science and Engineering Ambassadors Scheme for the same region. This means that the Trust will continue to be the link to MKOB schools for organisations that provide high quality STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) enrichment and enhancement activities and STEM employers. The STEMPOINT (formally SETPOINT) contract requires host organisations to provide impartial, tailored advice to schools looking for STEM outreach and curriculum enrichment activities in their area. Whilst fulfilling this remit, The Oxford Trust will also continue to offer their own repertoire of popular outreach activities. The Oxford Trust will also continue to help find suitable Science and Engineering Ambassadors (SEAs) to provide expertise and inspiration for students. SEAs are people with STEM skills that help inspire young people in STEM subjects by supporting teachers and classes with their own activities. SEAs can also be illuminating and accessible role models for career events and after school clubs. There are now over 600 SEAs registered in MKOB, with almost half linking regularly with schools, so The Oxford Trust is in a strong position to meet most school requests for support.
