The Ethics of Progress - Theatre at Science Oxford

On Thursday 22 May, Science Oxford presents 'The Ethics of Progress', a performance by Unlimited Theatre in co-production with Oxford Playhouse and Leeds Met Studio Theatre.

Unlimited Theatre have made a name for themselves for producing intelligent, stylish and thought-provoking theatre since 1997. 'The Ethics of Progress' is their latest production which, like its predecessors ETHICS and the award-winning NEUTRINO, makes connections between the huge ideas from the conceptual edge of science and heartfelt human stories.

Made in close consultation with Professor Vlatko Vedral (who heads up the Quantum Information Science Group at the University of Leeds) and delivered by Unlimited's Artistic Director Jon Spooner, 'Ethics'. is a sixty minute theatrical presentation exploring the actual, imagined, ethical, political, religious and philosophical impacts of leading edge research in Quantum Physics.

Jon invites his audience to consider how leading edge scientific research will irretrievably change the world as we currently view it. By avoiding jargon and explaining in straightforward terms the concepts of Superposition, Wave Particle Duality and Teleportation, 'Ethics'. employs Unlimited's trademark warmth, wit and charm to push theoretical physics into real life situations and imagines the world as it might be in the not-too-distant future.

Smart, funny and accompanied by projected visuals, Jon tells the story of how his understanding of the world and everything in it was radically altered by his conversations with Professor Vedral. 'The Ethics of Progress' takes place at Science Oxford on Thursday 22 May at 7.30pm. For more information and bookings, please visit www.scienceoxford.com.
