Run Your Own Problem-Solving Workshop
All of The Oxford Trust's workshop kit is available for schools to borrow and use themselves. (Click here to go to the Kit Loan Page). In particular, we have large quantities of the following:
- K'Nex construction kits
- TEKO kits (motorised gears and pulleys)
- Kit for tubular framed paper structures (towers, domes, bridges, 'Millennium Wheel')
Staff from The Oxford Trust will come to the school to deliver the training session, which is flexible in length from 1-2.5 hours. The cost is £100 + VAT and this includes the charge for the subsequent loan period. The kit can then be left at the school and simply needs to be returned when it is finished with.

Come On Down: Using TV Game Shows in the Classroom
The Oxford Trust also has considerable experience adapting the formats of popular television game shows to work on a wide range of science topics in the classroom. The training gives lots of tried and tested ideas as well as encouraging teachers to come up with their own. The ideas have been used right across the age range from KS1 to KS5.

Drama and Debate: Contemporary Science in the Classroom
Since 1997 The Oxford Trust has run projects where secondary school students use debate and drama to explore and communicate contemporary science issues. In this special INSET workshop several tried and tested interactive sessions are introduced that look at topics such as genetic engineering, genetic testing and mental health. In each case the moral and ethical issues arising from the science are explored using a variety of techniques - from role play exercises to discussion formats based on elements from popular television shows.
The aim is to give teachers novel practical ideas that they can make use of in the classroom and hand-outs and copies of resources are available for participants to take away with them and use. The workshop is particularly relevant to science teachers, but also useful to drama teachers interested in seeing how science can be used as a basis for innovative drama work.
Staff from The Oxford Trust can come to the school to deliver training sessions, which are flexible in length and could be a day, a half day or a twilight session. There is a minimum cost of £100 + VAT. It is also possible to run training sessions in Oxford at Science Oxford.
